From a cross between documentaries and animation, to essay films and the combination of archive footage with fictional techniques, the selection of Cinema Falado in 2024 makes use of the most varied strategies to bring anti-heroes, erased histories, forgotten family traumas and war memories to the screen. Spread across different continents and contexts, Portuguese-language productions reflect on themselves, nature and history to compose a complex and multiple mosaic in its materialities, textures and cinematic narratives of the contemporary Lusophone world.
