Porto/Post/Doc: Film & Media Festival will organize a special programme dedicated to Swedish films at “Há Filmes na Baixa!” (There’s Cinema Downtown!). It is as an extension of the partnership between the Festival and the Swedish Embassy in Lisbon, after the presence of three Swedish films on the 1st edition of Porto/Post/Doc. The films screened at the Festival were “Reunion” by Anna Odell, featured on the “Where is the Real?” programme; “Stranded in Canton” by Måns Månsson, included on a Carte Blanche curated by the CPH:DOX festival; and “Concerning Violence” by Göran Hugo Olsson, which was the opening film of this new festival made in Porto.
Thus, the first three exhibitions in May will feature three of the best-known recent Swedish documentaries, which will be screened at Cinema Passos Manuel in Porto on Wednesdays at 22h. This programme begins on May 6th with “Big Boys Gone Bananas!”, in which the director Fredrik Gertten portrays his own lawsuit against a food industry giant. The following screening is on May 13th with “Palme” by Maud Nycander and Kristina Lindström about the life and death of Olof Palme, a Swedish prime minister. The last film of this special programme is screened on May 20th and is about three of the most important members of The Priate Bay website. This film is directed by Simon Klose and it’s called “TPB AFK: THE PIRATE BAY AWAY FROM KEYBOARD”.
The Swedish Film Programme is also being extended to Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto, with the support of the Swedish Course and there will be two public screenings of the films “Call Girl” by M. Marcimain, e “The Last Sentence” by J. Troell. These exhibitions will be at 19h30 on the 11th and the 25th of May, respectively.
