180 Media Academy: a new perspective on culture and media at Porto/Post/Doc

The 180 Media Academy is a program developed by Canal180 in collaboration with Porto/Post/Doc, bringing together professionals from various creative fields to reflect on and reinvent the way we think about culture and media. How do we tell stories? How do media formats shape the narratives we want to share? This program invites professionals from diverse sectors to explore these questions and share their vision of their practices, the industry, the world around them, and the future.
The 180 Media Academy offers a transdisciplinary and comprehensive approach, promoting discussions on new themes, discourses, and trends that are shaping today’s world.

TALKS

The program includes a series of talks, beginning with a presentation by American documentarian and journalist Ben Derico (BBC, Público) on the challenges of documentary production and storytelling practices. Dublin Digital Radio will address the theme of autonomy and democracy within media, while media artist João Martinho Moura and choreographer Né Barros will share projects developed at the intersection of body movement and generative video installation. EXHIBITIONS

The Canal180/Fahr 021.3 gallery will showcase a new exhibition organized by the FAHR 021.3 studio, in collaboration with Né Barros and João Martinho Moura, in the 9:16 gallery of the Canal180/FAHR 021.3 space.

SPECIAL TV PROGRAMME

The special broadcast on Canal180 will feature new episodes of the series CINEKOMIX !!! by Edgar Pêra, where comic book artists explore their work. New episodes of Freezing Frames and Jogo Cruzado will also be aired.

FILM SCREENING

Canal180 presents the premiere of new episodes of the original series Freezing Frames, where directors are invited to analyze their films through a selection of frames. This will be followed by the presentation of the latest edition of Jogo Cruzado, a collaboration with Gnration and Culturgest, challenging filmmakers and musicians to create a joint audiovisual piece.

Jogo Cruzado 6.1. Loreto Quijada x Nigga Fox (2024, DOC, 5')
Jogo Cruzado 6.2. Claire Rousay x Toma Gerzha (2024, DOC, 5')
Part of the sixth edition of Jogo Cruzado, where filmmakers and musicians are invited to merge their practices, creating pieces that interact with existing works. This process involves a filmmaker and a musician collaborating to expand and reinterpret their creations.

This program celebrates innovation and cultural diversity, providing a unique space for exploration and connection between creatives and the public.
