The 1st edition of 180 Media Academy has a program that seeks to reflect on new media formats as an approach to new themes.
180 Media Academy is a complementary training programme for students and young professionals in the media and audiovisual sector, which seeks to explore the new paradigms of contemporary production.
The development of digital platforms has triggered the demand for audiovisual content and this new phase is characterised by the diversity of formats and a strong influence on the entire production ecosystem, with the creation of a parallel circuit to productions oriented to film festivals.
With a more editorial than technical programming, it offers a multidisciplinary and wide-ranging perspective, opening the discussion of new themes, speeches and trends that are marking the world this year, and that will continue to do so for the next decade. We want to debate new ways of telling stories that have an impact on society. Since current disruptive narratives require innovative forms of presentation, looking at new topics is also looking at how they manifest themselves through formats beyond the traditional film scenarios, on different platforms and distribution media.
The program runs online from the 24th to the 27th of November, 2020, with a series of masterclasses, conferences, projections and project development.
Suzanne Tromp (WePresent), Thomas Gorton (Dazed Media), Helen Job (TCOLab) and Amar Ediriwira (Boiler Room 4:3), Jon Uriarte (Photographer's Gallery), Le Ranso (Vampire Films), Diogo 'Gazela' Carvalho (Filmmaker) and Wouter Jansen (Square Eyes) are some of the figures already confirmed for Masterclasses, Talks and Project Development.
The 180 Media Academy is the result of a collaboration between Canal180 and the Porto/Post/Doc - Film & Media Festival.
