A project based on an idea by filmmaker Alice Diop, with the support of Ateliers Médicis and the Centre Pompidou, this programme intends to fill a political and artistic gap by contributing to the circulation, distribution and recognition of a sector of cinema invisible to critics and institutions. The goal is to draw attention to the richness of the formats produced around the “suburbs of the world”, showing the uniqueness of the filmic approaches usually grouped under the term “suburb”.
