Edila Gaitonde, pianist, writer and anti-colonial activist for the liberation of Goa, Damão and Diu, passed away last year at the age of 100. She lived in Leça da Palmeira, and the director Ricardo Leite knew her. In this documentary he shares with us the life story of this extraordinary woman. She was the first Portuguese woman to marry a Goan of Indian origin during ‘Estado Novo’ and, between radio broadcasting and education, she was also a documentary filmmaker, having shot dozens of films in Super 8 that had never been screened in public before. The remarkable life of a pioneer who always sought to discover the beauty of things.
