The most important competitive section of the festival presents nine feature films that defy the borders between the documentary genre, mirroring and fictionalizing the state of the world. It’s an international competition but it also shows the vocations of contemporary cinema produced worldwide and, as such, it’s a meta-cinematographic reflection space that brings together works by emerging and established filmmakers. Grand Prize by Vinhos Verdes will be given to the best film in the International Competition and the best director among emerging authors (≤36 years) will receive Companhia das Culturas/Pereira Monteiro Foundation Award.
