In the film previous to Viola - Rosalinda, 2010 -, Piñeiro begins a series of adaptations of Shakespeare's heroines. In this film, the director freely adapts Night of Kings and foreshadows his next works: the attentive observation of a group and the love interactions between them. In Viola, we accompany a group of women who rehearses the English playwright, while daily life goes on. Therefore, the Shakespearean texts are mixed with the intimate relations of the actresses, full of the fleetingness of the passion. In an intricate chain of stories, Piñeiro shows us how unforeseen and coincidence, seduction and betrayal shape our future. Future that we do not always rule. (Daniel Ribas)
