In Ana, António Reis and Margarida Cordeiro return to the region of Trás-os-Montes, where the dreamlike landscape of meadows and illuminated wheat fields appears as an evocative element of the one that also seems to embody it: Ana, Cordeiro's mother. Everyone moves around Ana with familiarity and she's the one who touches the landscapes with the inevitability of her imminent departure. However, Ana is still the center of a larger life cycle, in a poetic of freedom where the unfolding of individual stories and the passing of life itself, do not oppose each other. It is a civilizational reflection that includes the subject inserted in a broad plane, the great passage of time. A dialogue that takes place between generations, but also with the earth and all who have passed through it. Ana is marked by a poetic and symbolic language that reveals the eternal, just as Ana's memory recalls that eclipse of a long time ago. (Rita Morais)
