Come Closer is an initiative by Porto/Post/Doc that extends, throughout the year, the circulation of films presented within the festival context. The programme is aimed at film clubs, cultural associations, academic institutions and other screening venues in Portugal and Galicia interested in hosting independent and auteur cinema beyond the festival circuit.
Come Closer seeks to reinforce the presence of this cinema in local contexts, promoting access to works that question the present, engage with memory, cross geographies and explore different ways of representing the real. The programme reflects Porto/Post/Doc’s curatorial line and its commitment to a cinema attentive to the contemporary world.
The available selection includes documentaries, hybrid works and fiction films, bringing together internationally recognised authors — Werner Herzog, Lina Soualem, Nicolas Pereda — with films of particular territorial and contemporary relevance. The main thematic strands include memory, exile and displacement, territory, ecology and borders, war and resistance, and culture and artistic creation.
The territorial availability of each film may vary according to the screening rights agreed for each work.

HOW THE PROGRAMME WORKS
Porto/Post/Doc ensures the full operational coordination of the programme. Partners have access to films that were part of the festival’s programme, with editorial support and direct coordination with the Come Closer team, which accompanies each proposal from film selection to screening confirmation — including communication with rights holders and scheduling with screening venues. Whenever applicable, the festival provides subtitled copies in Portuguese or Galician and ensures the technical preparation and secure delivery of screening materials.
