Last Saturday, December 14, 2024, Porto/Post/Doc participated in the Novos Cinemas Festival, in Pontevedra, Galicia, to present the Working Class Heroes grant and one of the films resulting from its previous editions. This initiative, developed in partnership with filmaporto – film commission and Fundação "la Caixa"/ CaixaForum+, stands out for its goal of amplifying the voices of Porto’s working class through cinema.
The presentation was led by Sérgio Gomes, executive director of Porto/Post/Doc, who explained the philosophy behind the grant, designed to support the production of films that portray the stories and experiences of the city’s working class. During the event, the film “So Small, Looking All Grown Up” by filmmaker Tânia Dinis was screened. This work combines documentary and fictional elements, exploring the testimonies and memories of women who migrated to Porto between the 1940s and 1980s to work as domestic servants. The film was awarded Best Portuguese Short Film at IndieLisboa and was also part of the Cinema Falado Competition at the 2024 edition of Porto/Post/Doc.
