D'A FILM LAB & Porto/Post/Doc: Breaking down barriers for international co-production

by Porto/Post/Doc / 27 03 2023

D’A FILM LAB is a new joint initiative in which the D’A - Barcelona Film Festival and Porto/Post/Doc Festival bring together a new generation of producers from Spain and Portugal in Barcelona, on March 29 & 30. Two days of workshops, meetings, case studies and round tables aimed at demystifying the cultural, financial and legal aspects of international co-production.
These meetings will take place twice a year based in Porto (November) and Barcelona (March) and will focus on different guest countries and territories in Europe in future editions. Among the objectives are supporting the development of new audiovisual projects and promoting the circulation of artists and producers, increasing international alliances and reinforcing the collaboration between Portugal and Spain.
This event also seeks to promote co-production opportunities with third countries, prepare producers from both countries to embark on international co-production projects, and reinforce the search for common opportunities in Europe with a Portugal-Spain joint perspective.
For this first edition, four Portuguese producers were selected: Ana Almeida (Anexo 82); Pedro Magano (Pixbee); Elisa Bogalheiro (Lira Filmes) and Catarina de Sousa (Foi bonita a festa).
These meetings have the support of Creative Europe MEDIA Catalunya and Creative Europe MEDIA Portugal and the participation of the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts - ICAA, Eurimages and the Instituto do Cinema e do Audiovisual de Portugal - ICA, EAVE and Ciclic France.
