"Outside Oranges Are Blooming" awarded in Melbourne

The short film "Outside Oranges Are Blooming", by Nevena Desivojević, winner of the 2017 edition of the Arché laboratory, held in Porto/Post/Doc, won the Best Cinematography award at the Melbourne International Film Festival. This festival, which has been held since 1952, had this August its 68½ª edition.
"Outside Oranges Are Blooming", a co-production between the Serbian Black Rooster Studio and the Portuguese company Terratreme Filmes, won the Blackmagic Design award, given in the category of Best Cinematography in short films.

Arché is a partnership developed by DocLisboa and Porto/Post/Doc dedicated to the development of film projects in various stages of production. Throughout the days of the Porto/Post/Doc festival, a guest tutor accompanies the participants' projects, which are then presented in a session directed to the professionals present at the festival. The aim of this workshop is to give tools for thematic deepening and reflection on the strategies to be implemented in projects in writing and development phases. This workshop funtions in a collectively, sharing experiences among the different participants.

According to Nevena Desivojević, quoted in the statement provided by Agência da Curta Metragem, "the story of the film is inspired by a newspaper article about a village hidden in the Portuguese mountains, where someone, among the inhabitants, steals from the neighbors" that took the director to the Trás-os-Montes village of Vila Chã, where she met Francisco, "the youngest villager, who, by refusing to adapt to this traditional environment, is marginalized".

"Outside Oranges Are Blooming" premiered in Portugal in the 2019 edition of DocLisboa, was featured in the last Porto/Post/Doc and already has several presences in international film festivals.
