From the 22nd to the 26th of March, the 13th edition of the International Documentary Play-Doc Festival is held in Tuy. The Festival aims to bring the public closer to non-fiction films and, among competitive programs, retrospectives, seminars, concerts and exhibitions, aims to create spaces for dialogue between professionals and the public.
The film On the Bowery, by Lionel Rogosin, is part of the PlayDoc programming, while Porto/Post/Doc’s Carte Blanche. The film was screened in the Working Class Heroes section of 2015 in a retrospective of the work of independent American filmmaker Lionel Rogosin, author of some of the most intense documentaries on the reality of the marginalized from the 1950s to the 1960s. XX. On the Bowery will have the honour of opening Play-Doc and will be presented by Dario Oliveira and Sérgio Gomes, directors of Porto/Post/Doc.
This partnership is not unprecedented: in the 2016 edition of Porto/Post/Doc, Play-Doc chose, for its Carte Blanche, a set of films by Cuban director Nicolás Guillén Landrián, a censored author, forgotten and unknown, but with a very important work on post-revolutionary Cuba.
