After "Los Angeles Plays Itself", Thom Andersen continues to explore the city where he lives: "Get Out of the Car" is an urban symphony filmed in 16mm that invite us to ramble between billboards, old gas stations, minor baseball leagues and murals in hidden alleys of the city as we hear excerpts of random conversations and old songs. Here, the theoretical concerns of the director are less important when compared to the nostalgic evocation of the place filmed. (Sérgio Gomes)
