Organized by Porto/Porto/doc, Working Class Heroes project, which has Filmaporto as a partner, has the mission of supporting audiovisual production in the city of Porto, using local technicians and stories from the city. The first edition of this support program will have a public presentation on May 27, where the official jury will have the opportunity to attend a pitching session by the three invited filmmakers. For this first edition the selected artists are: Eloy Dominguez Serén, Tânia Dinis and Aya Koretzky. The winning project will come to life as a film (fiction, animation, essay, documentary or experimental work) about the working community of Porto, to be produced during a residency of the filmmaker in the city of Porto in 2023. The jury for this first edition will be composed of Luís Urbano, Susana Menezes and Stefano Savio.
The program for this first presentation of Working Class Heroes will also include a day of screenings at Passos Manuel (Saturday, May 28), which between 7:00 pm and 10:00 pm will present some of the works that are part of the curriculum of the three invited filmmakers. The following films will be shown: They’re Not Fava Beans, They’re Scarlet Runner Beans, Laura and Passage, by Tânia Dinis; Around The World When You Were 30, by Aya Koretzky; and Hamada, by Eloy Domínguez Serén.
