COMPETIÇÃO INTERNACIONAL
Grande Prémio Vicente Pinto Abreu
THE LAST SHELTER, Ousmane Samassekou
Due to the generosity of the characters and the humanism with which this film is made, the jury decided to award it the Vicente Pinto Abreu Grand Prize. It is a dignified and important portrait in today's society of a certain “Melancholy of Exile”, that does not explore the suffering of those involved, but exposes it fairly and without artifice.
Menção Honrosa
BEATRIX, Lilith Kraxner, Milena Czernovsky
As if it were an everyday contemporary dance performance, the film introduces us, through an original pseudo-documentary approach, to raw female intimacy. The essence of boredom without filters or euphemisms, a non-narrative captured in beautifully composed and framed shots.
COMPETIÇÃO CINEMA FALADO
DISTOPIA, Tiago Afonso
A camera that both chronicles and constructs a community of protest, without artifice or aestheticisation. A witnessing of the unrest and pains of those who see their urban landscape and ways of life traumatically altered.
PRÉMIO CINEMA NOVO BY CANAL180
FRUTO DO VOSSO VENTRE, Fábio Silva
Combining archival footage and family memories, the director frames and juxtaposes emotions, narrative and personal experiences, containing these within a discourse that is both authored and original. The juri praises the quality of the selection of the Cinema Novo competition, and have decided unanimously to award the prize to a tender film that places the spectator in a place of discomfort.
