In the last two weeks, several Portuguese films have been awarded in different festivals. Some of the films were screened by Porto/Post/Doc in 2016. This new group of awards again proves Portuguese cinema's ability to be awarded prestigious festivals.

Tarrafal by Pedro Neves and Ama-San by Cláudia Varejão were two recently awarded films, having been part of the International Competition of the 2016 edition. Pedro Neves won the Best Portuguese Documentary Award in the most recent edition of Filmes do Homem, which took place in Melgaço from August 1 to 6. Cláudia Varejão was awarded the Green Dox section of Dokufest, held in Prizren, Kosovo, from August 4 to 12. The film has already won several international awards, including the Teenage Award during Porto/Post/Doc.

Meanwhile, Locarno was also the capital of cinema from August 2 to 12. Several Portuguese productions were in competition and all of them were awarded. António and Catarina, by Cristina Hanes, won the Pardino d'Oro for best short film in the Pardi di Domani section. The film develops through several meetings between the director and Augusto, a seductive man and much older than her. In the Cineasti del presente section, dedicated to emerging directors, Verão Danado, by Pedro Cabeleira, obtained a special mention. It is an important prize for a first glittering work on the life of young adults in contemporary Lisbon.

Three other Portuguese co-produced films were also awarded: Milla, by Valerie Massadian (Special Jury Prize in the Cineasti del presente section); And Era Uma Vez Brasília, by Adirley Queirós (Special Mention in the Signs of Life section). The two films are co-produced by Terratreme. And 9 Doigts, by F.J. Ossang (co-production O Som e a Fúria), which won the award for best director of the Concorso Internazionale.
