School Trip: Program with and in schools

by Porto/Post/Doc / 26 09 2023

During this year's edition of the festival, which will take place between 17 and 25 November, the festival will include several screenings dedicated to schools. Organised according to the interests and stimuli suitable for different age groups (M/4, M/6, M/9, M/12), they will take place at Batalha Cinema Centre. Throughout the week, the results of the 'Short Words' and 'Correspondences' workshops, which took place at EB da Ponte (Santo Tirso) and EB de Perafita (Matosinhos) between 2022 and 2023, will also be presented.

In conjunction with other sections of the festival, School Trip schools also includes the workshop Ao Ritmo do São João: based on the fresco by Júlio Pomar, which depicts a St John's night and can be seen at Batalha Cinema Centre. School Trip also invited, in partnership with Casa da Imagem, a group of 12th grade art students from Soares dos Reis Art School to develop a mural inspired by Pomar's St John's night and the graffiti of Hip Hop culture. The workshop runs from September to November and the result will be presented on Sunday during the Hip Hop Festival.

With a focus on high schools, Porto/Post/Doc will also be running an Experimental Cinema Workshop between 21 and 23 November, which aims to explore film as a tool of expression in which this technical/technological dimension persists. The workshop will be taught by Ángel Rueda and Ana Dominguez, founders and directors of (S8) Mostra Internacional de Cinema Periférico de Coruña (Spain).

In addition to the activities taking place on the days of the festival, the education project extends throughout the year with creative workshops aimed at children and young people, from preschool to highschool, and implemented in various schools in the north of the country. Throughout 2023, work was carried out at Escola Artística Soares dos Reis (Porto), Escola Básica da Ponte (Santo Tirso), AE de Perafita (Matosinhos) and Escola Secundária da Boa Nova (Matosinhos).

CREATURES OF LIGHT: EXPERIMENTAL CINEMA WORKSHOP (High Schools)

This workshop aims to explore film as a tool of expression in which this technical/technological dimension persists. It is based on promoting contact with the primordial device of cinema: the film, cinematographic experimentation and its experience in the theatre. The workshop is taught by Ángel Rueda and Ana Dominguez, founders and directors of (S8) Mostra Internacional de Cinema Periférico de Coruña (Spain).
