School Trip Porto/Post/Doc promotes screenings for children and families

by Porto/Post/Doc / 14 10 2024

A bakery as the center of the community, a spider with the dream of going to the moon, a sky with stormy or polluted clouds. Birds, cows, and crabs, and their coexistence with humans, the city, and the countryside. Walks through the forest and the sea, through drawings and photographs, in color and black and white. These are the loose words that define the films that make up the sessions of School Trip, a section dedicated to children and families at Porto/Post/Doc. Compiling fiction or documentary films, its programming seeks stories about the real world that can be told through images, sounds, and movements.

In addition to films, the School Trip educational project also includes a cinema workshop and is not limited to the days of the festival. Throughout the year, cinema is explored with various school communities, from drawings to letters and numbers, through cine-letters, stop-motion animation, or directly on film, along familiar paths and others yet to be discovered. The philosophy behind each action of School Trip is simple: to integrate cinema into the lives of children and young people, and to involve children and young people in the world of cinema. Only then can we form the audiences of tomorrow.
