In collaboration with Apordoc, each year the festival organises Arché Porto, a creative laboratory for the development of Ibero-American documentaries. Free from immediate financial and logistical constraints, the lab is mainly dedicated to reflecting on the creative process of each selected project.
Over the course of five days, guest tutors evaluate and monitor the participants' projects before they are presented to industry guests taking part in the festival and to an international jury, which will award a prize.
Each year, up to five projects in development phase are selected, and must have a strong documentary focus while experimenting with the potential and limits of this genre.
In 2024, the guest tutors are Helena Girón and Samuel Delgado (ES) and the selected projects are:
THE CARNIVAL IS NOT FUN, by Fernando Vílchez Rodríguez
THE GREAT ABSENTEES, by Azul Aizenberg
YOU WILL GROW FISH SCALES, by Sara Domínguez López
A LAKE FULL OF STONES, by Bruna Carvalho
CASTREJA, by Mariana Alves
The public presentation of these projects will take place on November 27th, 18h00, at Cinema Batalha - High Life Bar.
