Working Class Heroes

25 Nov

Working Class Heroes is a Porto/Post/Doc: Film & Media Festival programme dedicated to the development of new film projects about the city of Porto.

Developed in partnership with Filmaporto — Porto Film Commission and supported by Fundação “la Caixa”, through the CaixaForum+ platform, the programme awards a €75,000 grant for the development and production of a new film about Porto.

In each edition, the projects of three filmmakers are presented to an international jury, which selects one of them for development and production over a two-year period, culminating in its world premiere at Porto/Post/Doc.

More than a production grant, Working Class Heroes seeks to bring filmmakers closer to local communities, creating conditions to listen to, investigate and reveal the different stories, memories and experiences that run through contemporary Porto. The city is understood as a territory for research, a space for encounter and material for cinematic creation.

He recently premiered “Global Project” and is currently preparing the feature film “The Magicians of the Empire”.

Marta Popivoda

She teaches film at the University of the Arts in Amsterdam and is a member of the European Film Academy.
