Schools aboard

by Porto/Post/Doc / 17 11 2018

There are schools and schools. Film schools play a fundamental role in the formation of national cinematographies and, as such, so-called "school films" deserve a deeper look.

Cinema Novo Competition presents seven films from Portuguese universities and polytechnics, or from Portuguese students studying abroad. The winner will have the opportunity to travel to Berlin for the next edition of the Berlinale - Berlin International Film Festival, a prize offered by Channel 180. The two sessions of Cinema Novo Competition will take place on November 24 and 25 at 4.30 pm in the Small Auditorium of the Municipal Theater of Porto - Rivoli.

In addition to the competitive section Cinema Novo, the festival features showcases from ESMAD - Escola Superior de Media, Artes e Design, from the Polytechnic Institute of Porto, and also from Escola Artistica Soares dos Reis. A selection of the best productions made in the last academic year, both at university and high-school levels. Both sessions take place on November 26 at the Small Auditorium of the Teatro Municipal do Porto - Rivoli.

The showcases are part of the festival's educational project, School Trip, which includes several activities (workshops, master classes, workshops, etc.) for children, adolescents and university students happening throughout the year.

Porto/Post/Doc takes place between November 24 and December 2 at Teatro Municipal do Porto - Rivoli, Cinema Passos Manuel, Cinema Trindade, Planetário do Porto - Centro Ciência Viva, Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade do Porto and Escola das Artes – UCP.

The 2018 edition of Porto/Post/Doc has the support of Câmara Municipal do Porto, ICA - Instituto do Cinema e Audiovisual – Ministério da Cultura, CVRVV - Vinho Verde, Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, Acción Cultural Española - AC/E, da Cinemateca Portuguesa - Museu do Cinema and ArtWorks.
